The Ontario Land Tribunal (OLT) is proposing revisions to Part II of its Rules of Practice and Procedure (“OLT Rules”) to streamline the practices and procedures for proceedings under the Expropriations Act.

The proposed revisions will facilitate active case management of expropriation matters and will encourage the use of mediation for land compensation disputes. The OLT Rules are to be read along with any specific statutory or regulatory requirements that apply to the OLT.

 The OLT is undertaking a consultation on the proposed revisions to Part II of the OLT Rules until August 11, 2023

The proposed revisions to Part II of the OLT Rules are posted online for consultation:

The OLT will consider comments received on or before August 11, 2023. The content, structure, form and wording of this consultation draft Rules are subject to change as a result of the consultation process and any review, editing and correction by the OLT.

Comments on these proposed revisions will be considered public records and may be publicly disclosed by the OLT.
